Matt Owens from the recently defunct Noah & The Whale brings his new band Little Mammoths to the second of two dates at Down In The Basement, Featuring members of Noah & The Whale, and friends and cohorts of Mumford and Sons, the band of superb players have a set of tightly written good time roots rock stuffed full of hooks, with the ghosts John Cougar and Bob Seger rattling round their cages..

New Roots favourites The Ramshackle Union Band return for what promises to be another epic Saturday night performance. Never failing to produce a fantastic show, the rich vocal harmonies and raucous tumbling rhythms in their alt-Americana sound calls to mind the country funk of The Band and Crazy Horse and the rock and roll attitude of the Violent Femmes. Their sound is in debt to classic roots music, at the same time feeling vital, fresh and thoroughly cutting edge.
.
A favourite of BBC 6 Music in his previous musical incarnation, ‘The A Train’, James McKean and his band the Blueberry Moon specialize in splendidly epic melancholic country-soul vignettes supported by rich full band arrangements. They will be previewing songs from their forthcoming album ‘No Peace For The Wicked’.
