Alice Phelps has been gracing the stages of London for the past year with her ensemble set up of harp and powerfully husky vocals, augmented by percussion, double bass, cello and violin. Influenced by folk from all over the world, Celtic to Eastern, she experiments with delay, blues motifs, and intricate melodies and rhythms to create a unique melting pot of contemporary and traditional folk styles.

Three piece Mariah Wade perform unique and beautiful interpretations of traditional Irish and old time American songs, interspersed with their own carefully crafted compositions. Weaving together stories on acoustic guitar and banjo with vocal harmonies that run as deep and clear as a mountain stream, their music defies easy categorization – it embraces the pre-eminent ambassadors of traditional Irish, folk, Appalachian and country music.

Young Causeway‘s immaculate harmonies and fingerpicking alt folk, delivered with a beautifully light touch, makes for a splendidly accomplished act. Simon and Garfunkel and CSN&Y’s pristine vocal blend is a definite influence, but the duo’s contemporary indie folk leanings puts their excellent songs in a comfortably contemporary setting.
