DOWN IN THE BASEMENT is a monthly Saturday night of rockin’ country, blues, alt/indie folk and rock’n’roll in The Harrison basement. Three live bands each night, the basement bar will be open, the stereo will be loud and packed full of the best alt-country, rockin;’ roots, soul andf rhythm and blues, the chairs will be cleared away, so get yer dancin’ shoes on!

Simon Stanley Ward is a young country singer, pure and simple. He sounds like the original lonesome cowboy crooner – a perfect cross between Neil Young and Charlie Rich, with a voice to match. It’s hard-rocking country, the kind that spawned Elvis and Johnny Cash, and with superbly tight band that includes Danny & The Champions of the World guitarist Paul Lush in it’s ranks, he delivers on his promise as one of UK alt-country’s rising stars.

Formed in 2007, the eight piece Holloway Jug Band are a ball of raucous old-time energy, filtering 1920’s/30’s jug band classics and original songs through Irish, country, punk and folk. Citing influences from Gus Canon’s Jug Stompers and the Memphis Jug Band to the Carolina Chocolate Drops and Old Crow Medicine Show, they’ve become favourites on the Summer festival circuit, playing regularly at The Green Man, headlining last year at the Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire and headling the 2010 Livestock in Oxfordshire.

Featuring members of Dan Raza & The Shrouds, Troubadour Rose, and The Hallelujah Trails the newly formed Verklempt Family promise a high quality roots stew! More details to be announced…
