About

New Roots is committed to promoting events that shine a light on up and coming talent in the UK alt-folk and alternative roots scene. It’s committed to providing artists with an environment that is sympathetic to what they do, giving musicians the respect they and their music deserve. For this reason we ask for no talking and no use of mobile phones during performances to ensure the music gets the attention it warrants. We put bills together that we think work as a whole, so the night can be experienced as a show in it’s own right, from start to finish. We work with venues that share our attitude- The Green Note in NW1, The Harrison in WC1, The Slaughtered Lamb in Farringdon EC1, St Pancras Old Church in NW1, The Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell EC1,  The Sebright Arms in Bethnal Green and The Lexington in N1  are some of our regular favourites, and you’ll find one off shows elsewhere around central London as well. Our music policy comes from the kitchen table, the roots of public performance- intimate, acoustic based, high quality musicianship with as little interference between performer and listener as possible.

NEW ROOTS RADIO

We now have our own New Roots Radio Show, featuring the best in what we consider roots music. It’s a very broad church, from cutting edge UK and US alt-folk, to country blues, Irish & Scottish trad to African desert rock, punk-folk to chamber-folk, rhythm & blues to jazz. Dive in!

  1. Great event last night, Rory. Thanks for creating quiet listening rooms for talents like these. People like you and events like these make me want to move to London…or at least visit more often than once a year.
